I aim to create works that are rich with a verdant mix of detail, narrative and material surface.

I hope that my creations give a viewer a hint, a taste, a clue for a door of memory... that may open, and lead to a journey and to stories of their own discovery.

I enjoy exploring the meanings of precious - jewellers' traditional interpretation of "Precious" materials includes such things as gold, diamonds, platinum. I prefer to find materials that have a more sensitive preciousness, to minimize my use of such gauche and grandiose glamour as gold, or diamonds which carry with them such a weight of environmental and human suffering.

The leathers I use often come from stillborn animals, and inherent in that small tragedy is the infinite preciousness of their life, of the perfect-ness of their form, of their life - that never began.

I try to recycle, to find new uses for cast off objects and materials. Precious, after all, is in the eye of the beholder.
