Collection: Juliet Larkin

I’m a ceramic artist, based in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. I make one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces and functional domestic ware, thrown on the wheel or handbuilt. I mainly work with stoneware clay, although sometimes terracotta.

My work explores tension, imbalance, texture and emotion. I first took up pottery when living in Tochigi-ken in Japan teaching English in the late 90s. I’m influenced by the Japanese aesthetic and concept of wabi sabi, finding beauty in imperfection. I also make jewellery and weave (raranga) flax and other fibres.

I hold a Diploma of Fine Arts from Otago Polytechnic School of Art, majoring in sculpture.

Juliet Larkin passed away in March 2026. We are so proud to have represented her and her beautiful ceramic works in her home town of Dunedin.
